The 2006/7 Guinness Premiership season will again kick off with its traditional curtain raiser, the London Double Header; a chance for rugby supporters to watch the best of club rugby at the home of the game.
The day will begin at 2pm on Saturday 2nd September 2006, when a resurgent London Irish take on newly promoted NEC Harlequins.
The second match kicks off at 4.20pm and Saracens will be keen to avenge their 23-11 defeat against London Wasps in the reverse fixture last year.
London Wasps are of course no strangers to Twickenham, having won three Premiership finals in the past, won the first ever Anglo-Welsh Powergen Cup there in April, and have already shown their mettle by winning the Coral.co.uk Middlesex Sevens 2006.
This year, new seating arrangements will enhance the derby atmosphere still further. Areas of Twickenham will be reserved for the four different clubs and supporters of each club will be able to book tickets to sit in their area of the stadium, ensuring pockets of colour and noise.
And our very own Ruby G has worked her magic again and acquired a pair of tickets to give away to the winner of our LDB competition. To enter simply answer the following question:
Before becoming Tigers’ Director of Rugby and winning 2 consecutive European titles and 4 consecutive Premiership titles, what was the profession of Dean Richards, Director of Rugby at NEC Harlequins?
All entries must be sent in by Friday 25th August, and the winner will be notified by phone Monday 28th August.
However, if you don’t want to risk the chance of missing out on a fantastic day out, you can book yourtickets directly: Booking hotline 0870 902 0000 or visit http://www.ticketmaster.co.uk. Remember, you won’t be able to catch this spectacle on any TV screens near you!
