Barbarians 22 South Africa 5

It was a fitting end to a fantastic career for Jason Robinson this weekend as the star studded Barbarians proved just too much for the World Champions South Africa.

Bryan Habana was feared and revered but he paled into the background against the likes of Joe Rokocoko, Jamie Collins, Justin Marshall and Michael Williams. The mighty Barbarians showed off their might brilliantly in front of 58,000 fans at Twickenham. The first half bristled with passion and flare as experience outwitted youth time and time again and the Springbok just couldn't break through.

Jason Robinson was on fire at fullback and enjoyed a standing ovation when he appeared on the pitch as well as when he went off well into the second half. His showed no signs of slowing down as we all watched in amazement at his speed and dodging in and out of trouble.

South Africa were without some of their big players but it gave chances to some emerging stars, one of whom stood out from the crowd - number 8 Ryan Kankowski - who several times broke free and caused the Baa Baa's a few wobbly moments.

The points came mainly from Australia's amazing Matt Giteau who kicked and scored tries to punish the Champions.

The whole match was a fantastic spectacle for the crowd to enjoy. The atmosphere was electric, even though the rain poured down half way through the match and the wind howled.

Seventeen minutes before the end RFTG fav Ben Cohen came on for his Barbarian debut and showed that he still had got what it takes. It was a shame he was not brought on earlier but with such a line up there were no easy choices.

Looking back four years, do you remember the Barbarians taking on the new World Champions, England - the scoreline was a different matter then as the Champs came out victorious with tries from Matt Stevens and Ben Cohen. So much water under the bridge since then.

2007 was the Barbarians day though and a fitting end for Jason Robinsons career - from BBC Sport:-

Robinson made his name in rugby league with Wigan and Great Britain, playing 302 matches and scoring 184 tries, before switching to union with Sale in 2000.

He scored for the Lions in the first test victory over Australia in 2001 and was also included in the tour to New Zealand in 2005.

Robinson touched down in the World Cup final of 2003 as England beat Australia in Sydney and eventually won 51 caps for his country in the 15-man code, captaining the side eight times.
