Message from Linsey Clifton

I set up The Coaches Association a year ago with the help from PUMA. The aim of it is to get PUMA sponsored players and coaches to help teach those who are coaching the grassroots level of the sport – so maybe teachers, youth team managers, Sunday sides etc – and give them access to the professionals to see how it’s done at that level.

Are you interested in taking up coaching - if so read on - rugby is not all just 'mud and mouth-guards' you know!!

About the Association

Helping the coaches and teachers of today to produce the players and teams of tomorrow”

 What is it?
It is an independent association, fully supported by PUMA consisting of coaches of all abilities who are involved in the coaching of rugby to players of all levels, ages and gender.

The unique association provides opportunities to access the world of professional sport. It utilises key professional rugby coaches and professional rugby players to enhance members’ education and broad rugby experiences.

Who are its members?
Anyone can join the scheme as it is not restricted to coaches with previous qualifications. Therefore membership is open to everyone including teachers, youth team coaches, managers and all those
individuals coaching rugby.

There is specific advice and encouragement for members taking their coaching qualifications and bespoke lesson and session plans in download format, available for members only.

Each member is presented with their own individual membership number and access to the website. Upon joining, there is a gift on annual subscription along with a membership card and luggage tag.

What are the benefits of joining?
In addition to the support and encouragement already stated, there is the opportunity to attend one or more of the 4 (minimum) coaching events per year which will be attended (where possible) by PUMA professional players and top class coaches, discretionary prices on PUMA/ARC product – up to 30% less than retail price in some cases and an onus on shared experiences and information between each member. Additional to this, there is the chance to enter the on-line competitions.
