RFTG Nat and Debs meet the boys

When RFTG had the opportunity of visiting Leicester Tiger's pre-season press conference, we jumped at the chance. It occurred to me that just three years ago RFTG would not have even been recognised as a form of rugby media, but now, just about everyone understands that we are just as much into rugby as the 'big beefy boys that drink beer' and have a right to support it (and workship it!) in our own way.

Natalie and Debbie drew the long straws and excitedly waited for the day to come. What to do, what to say, what to wear? Decisions, decisions. We decided that they would go for the RFTG casual look of jeans and RFTG T shirt and for the first interview just work through our player profiles to find out a bit more about the boys behind the mud and mouth guards.

We acccepted the invitation and then were asked who we would like to interview. Such a hard choice! I asked the girls. They had to sleep on it but finally came back to me with a decision - Tom Varndell, Tom Croft and Dan Hipkiss.

I emailed the press officer back with our choices and sure enough, there they were, large as life and three times as gorgeous. You can see the pictures below.

I received texts from the girls as they arrived to find the boys out on the pitch running through a few drills. Debbie got her Box Brownie out and snapped away. They were then invited into the bar area and updated with all of the new season comings and goings. Other members of the press asked very sensible questions and then the individual player interviewing began.


So thanks boys and thanks Leicester. That was our first Team RFTG press conference (first of many) and we don't think we frightened the boys too much! We'll find out if and when we get invited back!
