The God of Rugby smiled on England this weekend and blessed them with a 23-21 win against South Africa at Twickenham. As I have a poorly husband (bless!) I decided to take my 13 year old son, Sam with me to the Mecca of Rugby to watch the boys on an international stage. We had a great day and I managed to take a few snaps of the boys warming up for you girls (and guys - of course!). Here we have our hard hitting winger showing us his best side.....

We were surrounded by a mix of South African and English fans so the atmosphere was fierce but friendly. Our position in the corner of the East and North stand gave us a great view of the score board and the big screen on the new south stand which was a bit scarey as we were on the loosing side for much of the match.

Apparently there were 81,500 people in the stadium and I have to say it was a bit embarrassing when the loosing team was booed off at the end of the first half - oh dear! Something hit home though and the last 20 minutes of the match was knicker tweakingly exciting as the boys fought back to take the lead and win the match.

Josh Lewsey (left) played a blinder! He was everywhere on the pitch, especially when it mattered. His try saving tackle against de Villiers was in the end match saving so he very much deserved to win Man of the Match - well done Joshey.

I also thought Andy Goode played well after taking over from poor old Charlie Hodgson who just couldn't find touch to save his life:- (or his knee as it happens - we have now learnt that he is out for the season, as is his team mate Andrew Sheridan who suffered a broken ankle  - I don't suppose Sale are best pleased.....).

Andy though (alias Pork Pie  - said with affection) held his nerve and calmly did what he had to do for the remainder of the match. It was great to see Phil 'Raging Bull' Vickery back - cheeky blighter only went and scored a try..... just. It was a right pickle, but it worked. I think that the ball was just tickling the white line, but that's fine, it was a try.

All in all Sam and I had a fab day. Here he is enjoying the sunshine before the match. Shortly after this photo was taken he promptly devoured double beefburger, chips, two rounds of tuna sandwiches, two bottles of Fanta, 3 Kit Kats and a Caramel bar...oh, and an apple - poor starved child. Well, he is a growing Flanker so he needs the calories. I however, do not and so I joined him with a lightly dressed tuna roll.....
