RFTG ON TOUR WITH THE GORGEOUS BEDFORD BLUES

Bedford tour 25/04/09

By RFTG Reporters Louise Patrick and Natalie Hemsley

Well the lure of meeting the lovely boys at Bedford again was too much to resist for the 5 of us who represented RFTG this weekend.

In typical fashion (and setting the theme for the rest of the day!!) we met in the pub opposite the grounds where we first tasted Addlestones cider – this is a cloudy and not very fizzy loopy juice that went down far too easily. Here we met Steph who gave us our tickets and introduced us to Alison who was to come with us for the day.

A couple of hours later we headed into the glorious sunshine to the grounds to find prime position for some serious totty watching, sorry, I mean rugby watching. The game was a resounding win for the boys in blue 50 points to something rather low with tries a plenty. Very high note to end the season. As it was their last game some hospitality had been set up for the boys and fans so off to the marquee goes we.

The boys all came out and were presented with wine and spoke to the compare about who was moving on. A few are heading to the premiership which is fantastic and a testament to the type and strength of rugby promoted at Bedford. Nat and me then found James and had a chat and thanks for sorting out the tickets for us. Also on our radar was Sascha – we had a mission to give him a big squeeze from our missing leader…..mission accomplished Jill. (Thank you girls - I appreciate your dedication to duty!! J.)

The boys said they would be over the pub later so that’s where we headed for a few cheeky ones. Some of the boys turned up a bit later but unfortunately none of the big names came out. But fun was had. YOu really can't fail to have fun when surrounded by strapping lads (even though most were too young to comprehend!!). Alison then took us to The Rose after some of the lads said they would be there, and there they were. Mr Pink, Blue, Green, Red and Dicko who were all very friendly to us ‘shy introverts’ and made our evening rather entertaining.

All in all a great big thank you to the boys at Bedford for a fab day, congratulations on their 3rd place finish and to the girls who made this a memorable tour.

Hopefully more fun and rugby to come next season……HERE COME THE GIRLS!.

Well done girls and thank you for representing RFTG so brilliantly! Looking forward to touring next season. It's a hard job, but someone's got to do it!!Jill
