Australia 10 - England 12
France 20 - New Zealand 18
Fiji 20 - South Africa 37
Scotland 13 - Argentina 19

Obviously nobody told the Aussies about Agincourt! In 1415 the underdogs that were England beat the pants off their French enemies. In 1415 the English had a secret weapon - the longbow.... in 2007 the English once more had a secret weapon - ANDREW SHERIDAN! Words cannot express how the English nation celebrated yesterday. It was as though the Webb Ellis Trophy had been retained. It felt as good that's for sure, made only sweeter by the appalling behaviour of the Australian management team some of the players in the way they had lambasted English rugby in the week leading up to the re-match.

After almost 4 years of being in the wilderness England put on a show that all can be proud of. They came out and defied belief - even Martin Johnson said quite honestly that he did not expect them to win.

So what now? Well, they now have to do it all again next weekend - 8pm Saturday evening - against the host nation, France.

Talking of the French (who certainly have not forgotten Agincourt and are well aware of Andrew Sheridan).... what a win for them when they put out the favourites New Zealand. Ironically, the match took place in Cardiff (!) but the atmosphere was still electric in front of a sell out crowd (many of whom were Irish!!)

France turned it on in the second half and still smarting from their embarrasing defeat against Argentina fought and fought their way to a two point victory over the mighty All Blacks (who were in grey!). The Haka was interesting as well - it was carried out nose to nose - the French stood their ground and refused to be intimidated by scary McCaw and crew.

So, we now have a European Semi-Final ensuring Northern Hemisphere representation in the World Cup Final 2007.

Fiji were unable to continue the 'crushing of the giants' syndrome on Sunday although they very nearly did with a fantastic come back against South Africa in the second half. Their passion was immense but it was the might (seemingly a bit feeble at times though) of the Springbok who pulled through as the stronger team.

Scotland put up a great fight against a powerful Agentinean side but there was to be no shock in this quarter final either.

What a fantastic weekend of World Class Rugby where the underdog came through twice and all eight teams played superbly. Still two weeks to go. The tension mounts and the belief is now sky high for all those in the semis.....

England v France - 8pm Saturday 13th October
Argentina v South Africa - 8pm Sunday 14th October
