September 24th was a day to go down in history for the Cohen family. It was the day that Ben was released from his contract with Northampton Saints, the club he has been loyal to since he was sixteen years old.
Ironically, he left one era of his life and immediately entered a brand new experience - fatherhood! Ben Cohen never does things by half and this was no exception as he and his wife Abby welcomed twin daughters into the world at 09.48 hours the same day.
Harriette and Isabelle Cohen are now keeping their Dad's hands very full and no doubt he is superbly wrapped around both girl's little fingers (as all us girls do with our Dads).
So what now for Ben? It is time for him to move on his career - will it be in rugby? It seems that is the plan during a Sunday Times interview with rugby journalist Stephen Jones who wrote a frank, open and honest piece on the world cup winner.
There has been much speculation over the Cohen departure from Saints in August. The press release suggested that Ben had left after not being offered captaincy for the forthcoming season. Stephen Jones' interview with Ben suggests this is not the case. However, Ben does not criticise his club whom he holds dear to his heart and has done for half his lifetime - but he does say it as it is in his usual straight forward manner.
The interview can be seen on Timesonline - have a look and see what you think. The forum awaits your comments..... |
