It's about encouraging women everywhere, of all ages, to get to know the game, meet the players at all levels and 'share the passion'

 
It is not about women's rugby, although many of our girls play the game themselves. It is for women everywhere who want to know more about the sport and in particular the players themselves.

 
It's about camaraderie, fun, a certain 'buzz' or a just a good feeling to brighten the day. 

At first, many people within the rugby world were sceptical.. ˜you can't say that rugby players are sexy!" Hell, why not! The boys work so hard to get to the level of fitness required for professional rugby,  why shouldn't we tell them how great we think they are and celebrate the fact!

 
Now though, I am glad to say that doors are beginning to open up for us as the clubs realise that we are supporting their sport, but just from a different angle - looking through female eyes, that's all.
 

At RFTG we respect the players and do not pry into their personal lives - players who get involved with us do so with full knowledge of what our aims are and we always make sure they are happy to take part.

I have always had a passing interest in Rugby and have followed the International matches for years now, but it wasn't until 2003 that I suddenly began to take more notice. Was it those new 'tight fit'shirts? (put it this way, I remember doing a double take when they were first used!) - or was it because my daughter had started dating a young player from my local team? I'm not sure. But I do know that I woke up to this amazing, powerful and passionate sport played by generally gorgeous men with great shapes. Was rugby always like this? I had thought it was all mud and mouthguards...

 
Anyway, with my interest piqued I began to explore further -  this time with my business head on, and I realised why I had only just discovered rugby. The fact is that unless you are a fan through playing, or have someone close to you who does, it is not that likely that you will pay it a second glance. Rugby seems to be the UK's best kept secret.

 
Just to illustrate this point, I did a little bit of research amongst my friends and found that about 1 in 10 knew the names of more that 2 International Players BUT 10 out of 10 thought rugby players were sexy and would love to know more about them. They also said they would choose rugby players over footballers any day!

 
So September 2005 Rugby for the Girls launched. With a successful three month trial under its belt RFTG has now initiated the full development plan bringing the passion of rugby to you.
