Carolyn’s story I love Rugby. I love everything about it – the guys, the grunts, the power and the team spirit. The thing is, I’m a woman on my own. I’ve been a woman on my own for four years now and my daughter has yet to bring home a rugby-playing boyfriend, so I have no man to take me to the game. This makes things difficult. For example I got involved with a local club some time ago by donating some money, but found that despite my donation being a woman made getting involved just that little bit harder. I think being a single woman made this slight akwardness even more noticeable. I heard about Rugby for the Girls through a friend who was also involved. I was looking for something to invest in which would run with my passion, and this was it! I met with Jill and we discussed her concept. I trusted her and felt comfortable that she would invest my money wisely and so I became a major shareholder. Rugby is about camaraderie, for girls as well as the guys – and I don’t just mean those that play the game. There is a great social life that goes with Rugby, but what I really like to do is simply stand on the touch line and watch – oh, and shout a lot! It’s a great stress reliever for the spectators, not just the players. The message that RFTG gives out is that it is OK to adore rugby and the players – even if I don’t really understand the rules. I am proud to wear my Rugby for the Girls T shirt – it creates interest and people ask me what it is about and I love telling them. Being a member of the RFTG team gave me a great opportunity this September. At our launch day at Twickenham my dream came true – I met Lawrence Dallaglio – my hero, and I shall treasure that moment forever. Oh, and I look forward to meeting many more of the guys over the years. Well why not? We should all share the passion. Carolyn RFTG Investor |
